Continuing along with the purely joyful 2019s from Montalcino, what is perhaps the most anticipated of the flock, at least here at MCF, has arrived.

Baricci, the historic estate of the Montosoli Cru in Northern Montalcino has, as you may have expected, excelled in the 2019 vintage.

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is everything we love about Barrici - the impossibly elegant style, the bright red Sangiovese fruit, the subtly iron-y mineral skeleton - and with the ebullient disposition of such a fantastic vintage.

And, no, I didn't forget about their other gem, the Rosso di Montalcino 2022, the playfully gorgeous, perfect-with-almost-any-meal younger/fresher expression of Montosoli.

Both wines have been near and dear to my heart for almost as long as I've been doing this, and this is one of the best duos to have been released by the estate, perhaps the best since the legendary 2004/2001 pairing.

Montalcino doesn't get any more humbly profound than this, so get it while you can!
