Drouhin Laroze: Pure Gevrey Soul
 
Before I implore you, rather heavily, to consider this fabulously elegant, balanced, serious and oh-so Gevrey set of 2022s fro Drouhin-Laroze, I must admit that, yes...

...I too had experiences with DL in the past, and found those prior expressions, from prior generations of the family, to be...

...well...not as memorable. 

They were very much in that style that a lot of Burgundy fell under the spell of in the '80s-'00s - shiny, extracted, ponderous and rather lacking in depth. 

My $.02, of course, but I know many of you reading this are probably reflecting on similar opinions. 

Now comes the heavy imploring, because the current, sixth generation proprietors, brother and sister Nicolas and Caroline Drouhin, have, over the last decade or so, slowly morphed the style into the kind that makes traditional Burgundy lovers (like me) grin uncontrollably.

These wines are lithe, aromatic, structured, linear and packed with the charmingly surly soul that, for me, is the essence of Gevrey. 

My proof?  This current set of 2022s from DL...they are just flat lovely in every sense of the word...and, all things considered, they still offer value compared to their peers.

I know, I know...I say it all the time, but getting people to take a flyer on non-known commodities in Burgundy is about as Sisyphean a task as you can attempt in this game...

...but here I am, pushing that rock up the hill yet again.  

Trust me on these, they're pure, expressive, soulful and built to last...and they're everything that a Burg lover could ask for...
