Lisini Brunello 2019 - How Lovely Indeed
 
I'm just as excited about the 2019 Brunelli as I've been about the 2019s from Piedmont...

...and, if you know how excited I was about those, you know that that's a whole lotta excitement.

The same blend of radiant energy, transparent elegance and focused, deceptive structure that permeates the wines from the Langhe, exists in these wines from Montalcino.

This is my style.

Period.

And, as expected, my favorite producers have produced amazing wines...

(go figure I guess...)

One of the Montalcino estates whose wines I offer every year, in 'good' vintages and 'challenging' ones, is Lisini.

I just love the combination of classic texture, rustic aromatics, ineffable elegance, aristocratic restraint and longevity that their wines always exude.

In a blazing, energetic and gleeful vintage like 2019, their normale Brunello is exactly as you'd expect - so delicious you can drink it now, and revel in its bright Sangiovese glory, or you can hold it for a decade or two, and let it become the dark, earthy, oh-so elegant wise man it has the potential to be.

Having drank Lisini's wines as far back as the 70s, I can absolutely attest to how well their wines age, and the 2019 has all the stuffing for that.
