Two More Burgs, Because...Why Not?

They just keep coming, these drinkin' Burgs to keep your winter spirits bright.

Bernard Moreau's spectacular Santenays have been making a big splash in the last few months - first there was the boldly mineral, savory 2013 Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau.  Then we had the lithe, elegant 2014 Santenay Cuvée S

Today, it's the lovely 2014 Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau, which brings the stonier, earthier elements of the Clos Rousseau site, and combines them with the aromatic grace and supple texture that was so characteristic of the 2014s.

It's just beginning to shed its baby fat, allowing the dainty nuances to slowly emerge from the glass.  I enjoyed a bottle of it this past weekend over the course of a good 5 hours (and a good game of cards) and it just kept getting better.

Then we have another familiar label, Domaine Coillot, whose wonderful Marsannay and Fixin are becoming a fixture here.  Today we have the Marsannay Les Boivins 2012 which, with eight vintages under its belt, is in a wonderful spot right now.  Being a 2012, it's got plenty of fleshy texture, but the rather linear acidity on the back end keeps it all quite balanced.  These two elements nicely bookend the dark, earth-tinged fruits wonderfully, making for a great glass of Burgundian Pinot that also has time ahead of it, as well.

A lazy, cold Winter Sunday and a bottle of delicious, fairly-priced Burgundy...

...I mean, why the H not?
